Atalanta Essay Example For Students

Atalanta Essay I. Rundown of the StoryAtlantaHer father had needed a child, and when Atalanta was conceived, he dismissed her and requested to put her out on the mountains, and let her kick the bucket. So the hirelings put her out on the mountains. There a she-bear tagged along, and took an extravagant to the bizarre easily overlooked detail, and took care of her with her own milk. Eventually some haunters passed that way, and discovered her, and spared her, and brought her up. She turned into a hard lady, similar to her hard dad, and like the hard life she was power to lead. She thought about no wild monster of the woods. In any event, when two horrible Centaurs assaulted her, she didn't mind anything, however executed them both. At the point when she grew up, she discovered her dad, and came to live in his home. She made an incredible name for herself, in running and wrestling and other masculine games; she even grappled with Peleus, and beathim. She more likely than not been a bunch to oversee; so her dad before long got burnt out on her, and gave a valiant effort to discover a spouse who might ease him of his irksome daugther. From the outset she would not know about a spouse; yet finally she concurred, on certain condition. The condition were, that on the off chance that anybody needed to wed her, he should ran a race with her, in the event that he lost the race, he was to lose his life. In any case, she was delightful to such an extent, that numerous youngster were eager to attempt, even on those standing; many did attempt, and fizzled, and they were killed. One youngster, named Milanion, a fine youthful individual giggle at this in light of the fact that accdg. To him there are a lot of young ladies in the nation and he won't take a huge risk for one, regardless of how excellent she might be. In this way, some youngsters welcome him to the following race, as though he have not seen her and he join them. There they remained at the beginning post: Atalanta, similar to Artemis herself, as lovely and as hard; Accdg. To different books, she wear a sparkling clasp fastened her robe around her neck; her hair was basically dressed, trapped in a tangle behind. An ivory shudder hung upon her left shoulder and in her grasp was a bow. Consequently was she attired. With respect to her face, it appeared to be too genteel to even think about being that of a kid, and too innocent to even think about being that of a lady that was she resembled. What's more, the youngster, brimming with strenght and beauty, and certain that he would win. Off they went: he was sharp witted, however nothing to Atalanta, who hurried off like the breeze, and handily came in first. At that point the youngster was begun to his demise. Be that as it may, you wouldbelieve it, no sooner Milanion set eyes on Atalanta, at that point he became hopelessly enamored as profoundly as the rest. He thought he had considered nothing to be wonderful as Atalanta, and on the spot he announced that he would attempt his karma. Atalanta herself was grieved, as she saw this fine youngster. Some way or another she began to look all starry eyed at Milanion as well, and she gave a valiant effort to discourage him. Why she didn't acknowledge him without a moment's delay, in the event that she preferred him, I don't have the foggiest idea; yet maybe she felt that it would make her look little before the world, and she didn't generally adore him enough, so far. So a day was fixed for the new race. Milanion was not exactly so happy when he escaped. He didn't feel so sure he would win; and since he was unable to see her, he didn't feel so sure she was justified, despite all the trouble. However, he believed he was unable to pull out of the test. At that point he petitioned the goddess Aphrodite to support him, and she heard his supplication; for she didn't care for this hard lady, who made light to the goddess of adoration. She had a magnificent tree in her woods, which bore brilliant apples; three of these apples she picked, and offered them to Milanion, and guided him. .u22f02d460308ef9795f9183461c24aec , .u22f02d460308ef9795f9183461c24aec .postImageUrl , .u22f02d460308ef9795f9183461c24aec .focused content region { min-tallness: 80px; position: relative; } .u22f02d460308ef9795f9183461c24aec , .u22f02d460308ef9795f9183461c24aec:hover , .u22f02d460308ef9795f9183461c24aec:visited , .u22f02d460308ef9795f9183461c24aec:active { border:0!important; } .u22f02d460308ef9795f9183461c24aec .clearfix:after { content: ; show: table; clear: both; } .u22f02d460308ef9795f9183461c24aec { show: square; change: foundation shading 250ms; webkit-progress: foundation shading 250ms; width: 100%; murkiness: 1; change: haziness 250ms; webkit-change: obscurity 250ms; foundation shading: #95A5A6; } .u22f02d460308ef9795f9183461c24aec:active , .u22f02d460308ef9795f9183461c24aec:hover { darkness: 1; progress: mistiness 250ms; webkit-change: murkiness 250ms; foundation shading: #2C3E50; } .u22f02d460308ef9795f9183461c24aec .focused content territory { width: 100%; position: relat ive; } .u22f02d460308ef9795f9183461c24aec .ctaText { outskirt base: 0 strong #fff; shading: #2980B9; text dimension: 16px; textual style weight: striking; edge: 0; cushioning: 0; content beautification: underline; } .u22f02d460308ef9795f9183461c24aec .postTitle { shading: #FFFFFF; text dimension: 16px; textual style weight: 600; edge: 0; cushioning: 0; width: 100%; } .u22f02d460308ef9795f9183461c24aec .ctaButton { foundation shading: #7F8C8D!important; shading: #2980B9; fringe: none; outskirt sweep: 3px; box-shadow: none; text dimension: 14px; text style weight: intense; line-stature: 26px; moz-fringe range: 3px; content adjust: focus; content embellishment: none; content shadow: none; width: 80px; min-tallness: 80px; foundation: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/modules/intelly-related-posts/resources/pictures/straightforward arrow.png)no-rehash; position: supreme; right: 0; top: 0; } .u22f02d460308ef9795f9183461c24aec:hover .ctaButton { foundation shading: #34495E!important; } .u22f02d460308ef9795f9183461c24aec .focused content { show: table; tallness: 80px; cushioning left: 18px; top: 0; } .u22f02d460308ef9795f9183461c24aec-content { show: table-cell; edge: 0; cushioning: 0; cushioning right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-adjust: center; width: 100%; } .u22f02d460308ef9795f9183461c24aec:after { content: ; show: square; clear: both; } READ: In Cold Blood: Death Penalty EssayThe day came. There were horde of individuals to see the race: the ruler was there, with his court; Atalanta was there, young lady in a short tunic, similar to Artemis, and prepared to run. Milanion came, with the brilliant apples tucked into the side of his tunic. They made rather a lump, yet nobody saw it in such energy. The two sprinters remained at the beginning stage: the sign was giventhey were off. Atalanta didn't run as quickly obviously, for her own heart weekened a bit, to see this delightful youngster running for his life. For a brief period, they ran in a dead heat; however the enthusiasm of the race grabbed hold of Atalanta, and she shot ahead. At that point Milanion pulled out one of his apples, and moved it ahead to Atalanta. She got a quick look at the splendid thing, and delayed, and halted in her course to get it. Milanion passed her, and dashed away at ful of speed. Be that as it may, Atalanta tucked her apple into her chest, and off she went once more; she before long passed Milanion, and left him behind her. Presently Milanion pulled out another apple out another apple, and sent it rolling a little to the other side. Again Atalanta saw the apple, and shot away from the course to get it; again Milanion ran ahead, and right now he increased a decent arrangement of ground. In any case, the pace was telling on Milanion. He started to gasp, and his breath came dry from his throat; run as he would, he would not stay ahead, and now he took out his last apple. This time, he tossed it as hard as could be expected under the circumstances, immediately to the other side, however so that Atalanta could see it. What's more, as in the past, Atalanta dashed in interest, and forced option to leave the course until she had the option to get it, and tucked it route with the rest. They were not yet toward the finish of the race, and Atalanta started to pick up Milanion, however Aphrodite was watching, concealed, and she caused the apples to become heavier and heavier, until Atalanta felt as though she were conveying a load of lead in her chest. She went increasingly slow, and Milanion stayed ahead, and won the race. At that point there were incredible rejoicings, and Atalanta was no less satisfied than the rest, in spite of the fact that she didn't say much regarding it. So they were hitched, and they had the right to live hapily ever after, yet unfortunately they didn't. For they offered offense to Zeus, and he transformed them into a couple of lions. Maybe all things considered, Atalanta was more glad as a lioness than she would have been as a lady, however I don't realize longer her side of the story, since she could no longer tell it. II. Julius Caesar Effective Leader - Free Essay Example

Many businessmen, historians, military personal, etc all have created lists of who they believe to be great leaders. One man appears on more than one of those list: Julius Caesar. He was truly an effective leader. An effective leader must be a communicator, a planner, confident, yet humble, knowledgeable, and much more. Caesar planned to get to the top of the political system in Rome. To do that, he would have to climb many steps to get there. In 80 B. C. E. , he joined the staff of the governor Asia. He was sent on a diplomatic mission to Nicomedes IV of Bithynia to raise a fleet. It was rumored that he had a love affair with Nicomedes, however that could have just been a rumor started by Caesar’s enemies. Years later, in 74 B. C. E. , Mithradates of Pontus attacked the Roman province of Asia and Caesar, wanting military glory, raised an army and went to Asia, which was illegal because you needed a commission from the Senate to lead an operation. He then defended several t owns, allowing the Roman commander time to attack Pontus. Funding his quest on the political ladder, Caesar went bankrupt. The richest man in Rome, Crassus, paid Caesar’s debts. Crassus’s wealth would become the major fund behind Caesar’s extravagant lifestyle and the necessities to advance the political totem pole. When Caesar’s aunt Julia died, he decided to hold a large funeral for her. At the funeral , he made a long speech about Marius, who was married to Julia, and claimed descent from the fourth king of Rome and Venus. Soon after, he left for Spain where he began to quell an uprising among the local Spanish tribes. He proceeded to attack towns and the silver mine of Gallaecia. This Spanish War was where Caesar found he had a knack for military command. This war also taught him that war can be very profitable. It was here in Spain where he had a famous encounter with a statue of Alexander the Great. He proceeded to lament how he failed to perf orm some memorable act whereas Alexander ,at the age of 33, the same age Caesar was at this moment, conquered the whole known world. Caesar began forming an alliance with the Roman general Pompey the Great. Pompey fought wars in the east and the Senate was late in passing laws to organize the east. Caesar supported Pompey and would go on to form the First Triumvirate with Pompey and Crassus. The triumvirate was described by Livy as, â€Å"a conspiracy against the state by its three leading citizens†. Together they would rule Rome and all decisions would help all three members. In 58 B. C. E. , he became the governor of Cisalpine Gaul, Transalpine Gaul, and Illyricum. He originally wanted to conquer modern Romania, which was rich in metals, but saw the opportunity for conquest on glory in Gaul. He proceeded to conquer and subjugate the Gallic tribes. The conquest of Gaul meant that the Gauls could no longer attack Rome since in 387 B. C. E. , they ended up capturing the city of Rome and the Romans began a lifelong hatred of Gauls. When Caesar had power he had to organize Rome to ensure it’s stability. Caesar organized an army and defended Asia from an attack by Pontus. This gave the commander of the Roman army time to raise an army and attack Pontus. After crushing rebellions in Spain and Gaul, Caesar organized the provinces to make them stable. Caesar was so successful in organizing Gaul, that the Gauls would consider themselves Roman and was considered the most Roman province outside of Italy. In order to advance up the political ladder, Caesar organized a coalition between himself, Crassus, and Pompey called the First Triumvirate. All three men agreed that every decision made would have to benefit all three members. After being elected consul, Caesar organized a law that would give Pompey’s soldiers and the poor land in Italy. This appeased the mob and alleviated unemployment. Next he passed bills that prevented corruption by provincial governors. After the civil war he became dictator and organized Rome. He held triumphs which appeased the people of Rome. He encouraged education by granting doctors and teachers citizenship. He reformed the tax policy and reformed the calendar. Another of his reforms was to drains the marshes to create more land and granted full voting rights to those south of the Alps. Caesar often recruited effective workers and executives because to become the most powerful man in Rome, he had to create alliances with powerful men.

Essay on Emily Dickinson Untitled, Unregulated, and...

You know her name. You’ve seen it following quoted lines of poetry; printed on greeting cards, cross-stitched and framed on your grandmother’s bathroom wall, and engraved into silver lockets. Regarded as one of the greatest American poets, you are no stranger to her work. You know her name. Say it. Emily Dickinson. And boy, was she a wierdo! †¦admittedly, most geniuses are. Emily Dickinson dedicated most of her privileged, reclusive life to her art. She employed a brilliance for lyricism, unconventional form, syntactical experimentation, and set the course for possibilities of poetic craft. The use of fragmentation in her poetry cuts away excessive wordiness, and gets right to the heart of the matter. This compressed lyric utilization†¦show more content†¦In fact, in the poems we were guided to alone, there is a number of repeating images/words: blue, Bees, sky, sea, Butterflies, Eye, air, Angel, Heaven, and even the mention of a Spider. These presented natural occurrences are included as a tribute to their liveliness and beauty, and can be interpreted as small-scale representations for the meaning of the universe. The subjective nature of poetry leaves room for interpretation, which effectively allows each reader to create their own meaning. Dickinson also uses elements of the natural world metaphorically in her writing to express a range of different ideas. From her poem #207, â€Å"I taste a liquor never brewed- From tankards scooped in Pearl- Not all the Frankfort Berries Yield such an Alcohol! Inebriate of air- am I- And Debauchee of Dew- Reeling- thro’ endless summer days- From inns of molten Blue- When â€Å"Landlords† turn the drunken Bee Out of the Foxglove’s door- When Butterflies- renounce their â€Å"drams†- I shall but drink the more!† (p.1667) In the second stanza of this poem, Dickinson refers to herself as an â€Å"Inebriate of air† and a â€Å"Debauchee of Dew†. These self-proclaimed titles signify Dickinson’s resistance to traditional means of living. This could be taken to mean she doesn’t require alcohol to become intoxicated, rather, Dickinson thrives in her ability to obtain a natural high of sorts. Furthermore, calling herself the â€Å"Debauchee of Dew† really showcases her drive to be one with nature, and unrestrained by

Nature vs Nurture Mario Puzo - Peter Cary - 2801 Words

Nature Vs. Nurture Mario Puzos, Omerta, reflects the theory of Thomas Hobbes In the state of nature, where the theory states, that in the state of natureÂ…no account of time; no arts; no letters; no society; and which is worst of all, continual fear, and danger of violent death; and the life of man, solitary, poor, nasty, brutish, and short.(The Modern Age: Ideas In Western Civilization, Page 37-30) In Peter Carys, True History of the Kelly Gang, which conveys the theory of Jean-Jacques Rousseau, Man is born free; and everywhere he is in chains. Neds mother would beat the children if they did wrong as a disciplinary action: I cautioned him. You say that one more time Ill whip you(Page 80). This is reflecti ve of learned behavior from his mother. The beginning of Careys novel also talks about the rich landlord that will not provide proper fences and solid housing for them to live in. This causes a lot of resentment against the bourgeoisie, thus conditioning and forcing Ned to revolt against the upper class. All events in his childhood help mould him into the person he later becomes. For instance, when Ned saves Dick Shelton from drowning, he gets a taste of the rich lifestyle. Mr. and Mrs. Shelton treat Ned to anything and everything he wants, but the Sheltons go so far as to releasing his father back into society, proving to be a poor choice. Neds father returns home for a night, takes all the money they have, and leaves. He does this in retribution for Neds acts: Ned had stolen and killed a cow and allowed his father take the imprisonment as punishment. Ned Kellys life is one being shaped by external events, and the beliefs and actions of his parents. Both novels have very contradictory theories on human state and development. On one side of the spectrum is Mario Puzos Omerta, and on the other is Peter Careys True History of the Kelly Gang. Omerta suggests that genetics and natural course will dictate ones fate. Puzos

In â€Å"The Minister’s Black Veil† by Nathaniel Hawthorne, Hawthorne reveals both Transcendentalism and Anti-Transcendentalism through the attitudes of the characters. Therefore, â€Å"The Minister’s Black Veil† can be compared and contrasted with both â€Å"Self Reliance† and â€Å"Walden.† During the 1830s and 1840s, Transcendentalism was influenced mostly by Ralph Waldo Emerson. When the idea was first created, Emerson and a small group of people got together to discuss philosophy, religion,†¦show more content†¦Emerson also says, â€Å"There is a time in every man’s education when he arrives at the conviction that envy is ignorance: that imitation is suicide†¦Ã¢â‚¬ (242). Here, Emerson does not believe in conformity. He also states, â€Å"To be great is to be misunderstood†¦Ã¢â‚¬ (242). This quote means that people with new ideas are often not understood by the general public. Emerson’s quote compares to Parson Hooper because Hooper was a good clergyman; however, he was misunderstood because he wore the black veil. In Thoreau’s essay, â€Å"Walden,† he explains the belief of connecting spirituality with nature. He says that one should think freely, learning to understanding more and being able to make further conclusions about life. â€Å"If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer† (258). Parson Hooper heard â€Å"a different drummer† and followed his own way of life. The minister did not want to be like his congregation, he wanted to be his own person. Therefore, Parson Hooper was in fact a Transcendentalist. Parson Hooper’s congregation was all alike. They thought that their minister was strange for wearing a black veil over his face. All of the people in the society were all similar to each other, there were no differences. However, they felt uncomfortable when they saw Parson Hooper just because of his black veil. The Holy Text Of The Bible - 765 Words

As Human beings, we start to wonder about the creator of the universe, how is life after death, and about the ultimate purpose of life. There are a variety of religions in this World, however, there are a number of religions which truly do not have an answer to our questions, and therefore this makes regions unique. Religion is something that virtually shaped the world so throughout this essay I will discuss about the holy text of the bible, and about the general concept of the Judaism. Frist, Judaism has a rich history of religious text. As Rabbi Edwards from Rodfei Zedek stated, â€Å"The Torah is the first part of the Jewish Bible. It is the central and most important document of Judaism and had been used by Jews through the ages†. There are five books where the bible is made Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy. Torah refers to the five book of Moses, which are known in Hebrew as Chameesha Choomshey Torah. According to Rabbi Edwards, â€Å"This books were given to Moses on Sinai, and passed down by word of mouth for centuries thereafter, it is considered as divine scripture just like the written Torah†. The important note to be known about the five books is, that Moses did not write these books, therefore, God used Moses to write the first five books of the Bible. Judaism believe that the Torah shows how God wants Jews to live. As it mentioned in the audio Torah teaches people to be awaken and to be a better person, because none of us are perfect. Control over Ghost Net-Free-Samples for Students-Myassignment

Question: Discuss what is goest nets? What is goest Fishing? Why this issue important to Australia oceans. What are the Acts and policies implemented in goest net Issue? Answer: Introduction Ghost nets are one of the supreme killers in the ocean, not only these are found in a copious manner but also they have impacted over the ocean for centuries. The materials that use to formulate those nets are not high in quality so after being lost in the ocean plate these are creating a problem for the marine animals. In this report, the discussion over the environmental issue in Australia and the related problems in the coastal area of the nation has been highlighted.. There are certain environmental challenges that Australian coastal area has to face as the marine lives are the important aspect to maintain the ecology. Ghost Net Ghost Net is a kind of dumped or discarded nets that have been found under the sea water as these are got snagged on a reef and get separated from the fishing craft. These are spreading all over the ocean and prime reason behind the hazardous situation for the marine animals. The commercial fish stock, grabbing those fishes one at a time is the most resourceful work that Ghost nets are doing for long. But these nets are silently hampering the ecological balance of the coastal area of Australia (Vince and Hardesty 2017). Drivers are quite habituated with these kinds of nets especially in the fished area. Most of the times these are tangled with rocks, metal sheets or plants, and fishes, turtles, birds, marine mammals are caught by those nets. The initiative is taken by the drivers to avoid this situation and a Ghost Fishing Foundation has created in 2009 to mitigate this issue for sustainable maintenance of the sea waters and marine lives. The process at first stared at the Dutch Nort h Sea and then the initiation has taken placed by the Northern Gulf Resource Management Group (mission-blue.org 2013). There are certain artwork, design and effective measures taken by the government body so that ghost net effectiveness can be mitigated. Ghost Fishing There are several contraptions created by the human. These are the intended cases where fishes are trapped due to those nets. This is an artificial process of contrivance whereas there are some cases when nets are detached from the boats or vessels and these have stayed in ocean bed and are not intentional cases rather these are some incident that quite happened in the sea bed (Rochman et al. 2016). This process is considered as Ghost fishing as too many marine animals are trapped due to that process. In the 16th session of FAO Committee on Fisheries in April 1985, the first attention over the issue of "Ghost Fishing" was highlighted and an in-depth discussion has been made for the mitigation process of ghost fishing (mission-blue.org 2013). Short - session ghost fishing mortality rates have been predicted by including the figure of organisms that become newly applied by a preceding inspection. There are certain sources accounted in this section for the mortality rate of the fishes a nd marine animals. The studying process of ALDFG with the innovative design and material can process a training program so that ghost fishing can be reduced in a proper way (mission-blue.org 2013). Estimation and the processing of sea level and the necessity of protecting the marine animals are the concern thinking the Australian government has done throughout the year. Importance of issue The issue is important enough as the 80% of the marine animal caught by this process. Almost 300 turtles are found from the sea bed with an entangled situation and 13,000 nets are collected from the sea bed. This is the most important issue as the global balance has not sustained in that cases and that has created enough trouble for the marine life. There is some technological assistance provided by the government to improve the living condition for marine lives. Geographical origin, types of fisheries hunting, stakeholders identification all these are the probable sourcing of those ghost net (Gilman 2016). Thus, to mitigate this process of pollution in sea water effective steps or approach has been made so that Australian fisheries stay fresh in order and also that rubbish is not impacted by the marine life. The issue is important as Coastal review policy has implemented for that reason to save the environment. There are some government policies which were imposed to prevent the sit uation as well (Weis 2014). Coastal Management in Australia Most of the Australians coastal areas have iconic status and cultural extent in their life as the coastal resources are the only way to manage the livelihood of people and their marine life. There has also been the frequent coastal investigation into managing the coastline but by revolves around the century, no solitary inclusive indication of Australian coastal administration has happened (Wilcox et al. 2013). Climate level changed scenario in 2010 by the government has impacted over the "Climate Change Risk to the Australian Coast" program and delivers the best planning and management to the coastal reforming governance (adelaide.edu.au 2017). The management program deals with the Agenda 21 (Chapter 17) which has given the blueprint for the sustainable development of marine management. 3.2 billion People existing in between 200 km of the coastline, and 10% of the Earths measuring area, along with that two third of the earth surface under the water and most of the people are inhabit ant within the 400 km of the coastline (adelaide.edu.au 2017). Figure 1: Australian Coastal Management Reformation (Source: Created by Author) State government involves the coastal management programs through the planning, protection of the environment, infrastructure development, transport management, industries formation and the mining industries. The impact of local government also takes some effective steps to recreate the coastal area and control can emphasize the public health and safety program. Navigation supports are used for the interstate or international shipping process (adelaide.edu.au 2017). The management and the coastal areas existence are depending on the probable policy implication that Australian government has made for the sustainable condition of the coastal areas. The purpose of this strategy is to understand the clear impact of roles and accountabilities of the State Government in delivering certain manufacturing machinery and related maintenance facilities in coastal areas? along with this state certain probable process that has protected oceans form ghost nets (Butle et al. 2013). There is some nee d for the better development of case in coastal protection capabilities, thus the need of the measuring data and the adequate designed facilities are ensuring the protection of those natural properties. Acts and Policies over the Ghost net in Australia Ghost nets are creating a problem for the marine animals in Australia. Taking this into consideration the Australian government has taken some important steps to mitigate this kind of condition (Groom, Griffiths and Chaloupka 2017). Since 2004, almost 13000 nets have been recorded from the underwater and thus the existences of the marine animals are under threat. The report of 2012 has shown the better planning of removing the ghost net and make coastline security a much stronger. 845 ghost nets are identified and collected. Coastline Petrolane has started that covers 2750 km. Almost 8 ghost art workshop and public events have been done. Public awareness of the issue is formulated and executed. The future direction of the program for the re-modification of the coastal area is the important government project that has been done in this applied law. Posts are also furcated on the social media sites. As most of the people have the internet access thus will get know about the planning that Australian Government has done. NAILSMA I software has introduced in this process to monitor the ghost net in the ocean bed. As this is an artificial controlling process that provides effective monitoring process in the coastal line areas of the Australia (coastaladaptationresources.org 2017). Australian environmental department has set policy named Arafura Timor Seas Ecosystem Action (ATSEA) for the fishermen of Australia for the detailed workshop of loss of nets and that encourage those fishermen to understand the necessary precaution for avoiding ghost net. This workshop also encourages the Indonesian government too as they also allocated the same to mitigate ghost net problem (coastaladaptationresources.org 2017). Most of the ghost net identified by the Australian government had the highest number of animal entanglement (coastaladaptationresources.org 2017). 59% trawl nets, 14% gill nets and 27% other unidentified nets are accumulated by the service people (coastaladaptationresources.org 2017). Tangaroa Blue Source Reduction Plan is another important plan that initiated by the Australian government for the development of Tangaroa fisheries. Cape Arnhem event is to support the marine debris identification and that also help to remove the ghost nets. SWOT on the existing Policy Strengths Weaknesses Minimize the effect of ghost nets to provide a sustainable atmosphere in coastal areas. Ensure the benefits of coastal development and establish the coastal protection act to solve the adverse situation (Lawson et al. 2015). By applying for the technological assistance ghost nets can be identified. Natural and constructive assets can be conserved by applying those policies. Investigate the coastal protection solution and set the laws like Marine and Harbors Acts 1981 to protect the probable consequence affecting from ghost nests (Edyvane and Penny 2017). Marine lives are the important aspect of the ecology so by maintaining this policy the ecology maintenance is also formulated. Adequate monitoring has done for the prevention of such situations and that impact over the marine lives by surviving them for a lot of time. Marine safety issues are highlighted and work over the matter to understand the significant role of policies and the implementation of those policies over the system. Policies are not implemented in all the sections of the coastal areas. Local government has taken the initiative in coastal area development; however, these are not at all resourceful if money not engaged with that project. Applied prevention in the coastal areas is not implementing in some of the situations as the intermediate role of state and local governments are not so proactive in that case (Koleth 2017). Fishermen are intended to do such fish hunting programs and that effect over the policy (Kim et al. 2016). Sometimes they are doing this in an unethical way and government is not concerned with this. Opportunities Threats Sustainable environment condition is the most important opportunity that Australian government has adopted if they implement those policies and work over this. Marine animals can survive and do not get tangled due to ghost net, so their existence can be established (Phillips 2017). Coastal land use planning is the protection planning for the coastal areas for upcoming 100 years of protection. This planning will choose the coastal location and manage the coastal development for the mitigation of ghost nets. Polices are implemented in most of the states and that is the reason behind political contradiction. All the state has implemented those policies in a different way and implementation time will be a threat to the policies (Stelfox, Hudgin and Sweet 2016). In several policies, certain technological devices have used for detecting those ghost nets. If those devices are falling short or being damaged due to any reason then these have become the probable threat for polices. Conclusion Therefore from the above findings, it can be concluded that Ghost net is the most contraption material that is roaming underwater and creating the curse for the marine animals. In the major fishing areas, these nets are found and there are several policies implemented by the government to mitigate the impact of ghost net. A specific Ghost Fishing Foundation has been made and that impacted over the ecosystem of Australia as the existence of marine animals is important and this need to be understood by the fishermen as well as the people of Australia. Entrepreneurship Hancock Prospecting Pty Ltd †Free Samples

Question: Discuss about the Entrepreneurship Hancock Prospecting Pty Ltd. Answer: Introduction Gina Rinehart is the Executive Chairman of Hancock Prospecting. She is one of the most famous and influential entrepreneurs of Australia. Hancock Prospecting is a mineral exploration company of Australia. Rinehart inherited this successful business from Lang Hancock, her father. Due to her immense success in the business, she was named the Queen of Iron-ore Trade by the industry. She holds the position of executive Chairman in the company. Her net asset worth is $11.4 billion as per a report by Forbes (Forbes.com 2017). I contacted Ginas secretary for a chat with her. After two weeks, I got a call back from Ginas office that I can go to her office for the interview. Hence, I prepared some questions for her. It is a milestone in my career to interview the richest woman of Australia, who has built a fortune of $8 bn based on the exploration of the iron ore mines in the regions of Queensland and Western Australia. On the next Friday morning, I reached Ginas office for the interview. It started with a very warm welcome from the lady herself, which was breaking of the ice for a novice interviewer. The conversation started with the poor performance of Australia in the Olympics. Then it moved to how much she admires Margaret Thatcher. After that I started to ask her my questions about the company and about herself. Hancock Prospecting Pty Ltd is one of the major iron ore mining companies in Pilbara of Western Australia. Lang Hancock founded this company in 1952 (hancockprospecting.com 2017). Lang found the largest iron ore deposit of the world in Pilbara of Western Australia. Gina Rinehart, daughter of Lang Hancock inherited the family business in 1992. As the Executive Chairman of the company, Gina made immense contribution towards substantial business growth and protection of the company. She pushed forward the projects that were in the pipeline, for example, Jacaranda Joint Venture Alliance in 2007 for the tenements of various important minerals across Australia. She also entered in some joint ventures for some prospective coal tenements near Queensland during 2010 and 2011. Gina took the initiative and put efforts into coal tenements in Galilee Basin and securing a railroad and port required for coal transportation. In 2010, Gina took the venture of investment in a mine pit in Galilee. It w as the first mine pit to be opened in Galilee. She was the first person to ship the extracted coal from Galilee basin to Asia via ships in 2011. It was a huge milestone for the Australian mining sector and iron-ore industry. A small private mining company became a pioneer in this field by following the direction of a West Australian woman, and handled more global and high class development projects than many large mining houses of the world. She initiated the construction of 3rd major mine of iron ore with a partnership with RTIO. In the consecutive years, Hancock Prospecting experienced a huge growth in its business under the leadership of Mrs. Rinehart. Analysis of Gina as an entrepreneur The 10 Ds of entrepreneurship addresses the 10 competencies of any entrepreneur required to success in the business. Not every successful entrepreneur possesses all the Ds, but everyone must possess some Ds to run the business successfully. The level of the competencies also varies from person to person. The 10Ds are: Dream, Decisiveness, Doers, Determination, Dedication, Devotion, Details, Destiny, Dollars and Distribute (Sznt 2016). From the interview of Mrs. Rinehart, it is evident that she has almost all the 10Ds in her nature. She took her fathers dream to develop their own mine and made it into a huge reality through determination, devotion and dedication. She was destined to inherit the big family business from her father and had enough money to finance all the business decisions. She became really big in the business by putting a keen eye on the details and taking things in her own hands, which is a great quality of a leader. Gina said that, people used to tell her that she w as an alter ego of her father, who was a dreamer. For Gina, the taking over the company was the only option. Rinehart is an optimistic person. Not only in case of business, but she is optimistic in her personal life too. That drove her to pursue and finally achieve her dreams despite all types of obstacles. The MBTI profile for Rinehart can be derived on the basis of how focused her attention, made her decisions and dealt with the world. From the interview, I perceive that her MBTI profile could be EFSJ. As per the characteristics of the EFSJs, Rinehart is outgoing and sociable, understands the needs of the employees, and appreciates them for the contribution. She focuses on the details and thus, puts efforts on collecting the necessary information before making any important decision (Myers Briggs Personality Types 2017). Rinehart never displayed any dark side of entrepreneurship. However, the court battle with her children regarding the assets of Hancock Prospecting had definitely made her unhappy and made relationships bitter, which is one of the dark sides of entrepreneurship (Ferguson 2012). Analysis of the characteristics of Hancock Prospecting For more than 50 years, Hancock Prospecting has been exploring and developing the mineral resources of Australia. It has focused primarily on the development of the prospective world class iron ore mines in the Pilbara of Western Australia. The company added Hoy Hill to their portfolio, where it will continue to make substantial amount of investments. It has signed a three State Agreement for iron ores and currently getting ready to sign a fourth State Agreement for the project of Roy Hill. It has tenements in Queensland, which has significant amount of thermal coal resources. The company also took ventures in prospective minerals such as Uranium, Lead/Zinc, Gold, Petroleum, Diamonds and Molybedenum. Hancock Prospecting has headquarters in Perth, Australia, and the building is known as HPPL House. It has another representative office in Brisbane and has exploration camps in Pilbara (hancockprospecting.com 2017) Business Model Canvas refers to the template of lean startup and strategicmanagement for the development of new or documentation of existing models of business. It is represented as a visual chart comprising the elements of an organizations value proposition, customers, infrastructure and finances. It helps the organizations to align their activities according to their potential trade offs. The Business Model Canvas consists of the following nine elements (Cowan 2014): Key partners Key activities Customer relationship Value proposition Key resource Customer segment Distribution channel Cost structure Stream of revenue These elements are classified into few broad categories, such as key activities, key resources, key partners fall into the category of Infrastructure. Value proposition is included under Offerings. Customer segment, distribution channels, customer relationship are under the category of Customers; and Finances include stream of revenue and cost structure of the company (Canvanizer.com 2017). (Source: Canvanizer.com 2017) Rinehart says, her father was able to foresee the future of iron ore mining and exploration. He could see the growth prospective when he discovered the largest iron ore deposits in Pilbara in 1952. The company always had applied the Business Model Canvas before taking any step. The father and daughter both followed the same principle. The company first identifies the customers of iron ores. Then they evaluate why the customers would purchase iron ore, and if the demand is increasing. Along with these, Hancock Prospecting evaluates the channels of distribution, customer relationships, revenue streams, primary activities, primary resources, primary partnerships such as with RTIO, and cost structure of the company. This way they apply the Business Model Canvas in their business operations. According to Rinehart, the Hancock Prospecting has contributed significantly in the Australian economy. It is one of the biggest mining companies in the country. A major amount of iron ore extracted is exported, thereby earning a larger amount of foreign currencies. The Hope Downs Joint Venture with Rio Tinto iron ore has more than 500 employees from different cultural backgrounds. The company also invested a large amount of money for the development of Lang Hancock Railway, which transports iron ore to Dampier. It also connects the other mine, Hope South. Thus, the company has contributed in many ways in the economy. The strengths of Hancock Prospecting are: huge availability of iron ore deposits in Pilbara, Galilee Basin where they have tenements; international policies and terms of trade; integrated planning; sustainability; operational efficiency, cost savings and skilled labor. The weaknesses are: heavy risk management; schedule constraints, rules and regulations of the government; current innovation deficit; poor communication among the shareholders and stakeholders; and interruptions in business. Hancock Prospecting is a business in technological sector. It uses advance technologies for exploring and extracting iron ore in Pilbara and Galilee Basin of Western Australia. In this sector, the specific theories or models that the company follows are: Operational Geological expertise, Focus on Exploration, Consistent Financial Strategy, Commitment to Sustainability and ExperiencedManagement Team. All these theories are focused towards using very advanced technologies to locate the position of minerals above and under the ground and extracting them safely and without causing much damage to the environment. Themanagement teams are focused towards achieving sustainable business goals at a low cost for profit maximization. This way the company has made great fortune in the last fifty years. Refection on learning from the interview Gina Rinehart is one of the greatest entrepreneurs in Australia. Her massive fortune is built on her company Hancock Prospecting and Hope Downs joint venture with Rio Tinto. I have learnt a great deal of things from her. She gives some advices for the young entrepreneurs. She tells them to dream big and stay focused. To start a business and achieve success, the ability to dream and pursuing that dream is very important. Determination, dedication and devotion are other important traits that should be followed young entrepreneurs. She says that patience is a great virtue in any kind of business. Without patience, one can make mistakes, which could turn out to be costly for the business. Hence, I realized that along with dreaming big, I must have the ability to foresee the future. I must also have the capability to manage any difficult situation. The leadership skills should be enhanced too for managing people. Therefore, young entrepreneurs should develop some of the 10Ds of entreprene urship to make it large in the business. Opportunity assessment In the coming few years, Gina and her company have some developmental plans. The projects are named as Hope 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6. These projects are aimed at increasing the mining possibilities of the resource areas near Hope South, Marra Mamba, which are closer to rail infrastructure, and develop some more Hope Downs initiatives for mining. They plan to grow bigger and expand their business locally and globally (Ker 2013). From the interview of media shy Gina Rinehart, it can be concluded that the combination of destiny and hard work pays off well. Along with those, determination, dedication, devotion, attention to details, communication, motivation, and leadership skills can make a person good entrepreneur if he has the capability to take risk and plunge into new ventures. All of these qualities have made Gina Rinehart the most successful women entrepreneur and richest woman of Australia. References: Canvanizer.com, 2017. The vice president in charge of finance manages the institution’s assets. Lastly, the senior vice president oversees the well-being of employees and clients[1]. The headquarters of HCA is in Nashville in the state of Tennessee, US; moreover, it is in the Nashville-Dav idson County. It has initiated community-based programs that help the community in diverse ways. The institution owns hospitals and properly established surgical facilities in twenty states, in the U.S and London in England. It provides sufficient Medicare that meets the community’s healthcare demands. Moreover, it puts together many services with an aim of delivering maximum quality and efficient medication to clients. The institution shares technology with other facilities to ensure excellent Medicare. It is noteworthy that it also offers training for health practitioners through a well-integrated internship curriculum. This mainly targets medical students from colleges[2]. Its excellently structured hierarchy of governance shuns any misapprehension between personnel, especially the administration. It is noteworthy that the board of directors designates duties to the directors and officers of the institution. As a result, the officers seek administrative clarifications from the board through the Chairman and CEO. This ensures they respect the authority of the Chairman and CEO. Moreover, the junior officers and departmental heads receive directions from their respective supervisors and coordinators. The other practice is the management of the payroll services through its payroll center. This helps in the payment of hospital bills by patients seeking its services. It is noteworthy that, in HCA, the board of governors remains the highest ranked office. This board conveys administrative decisions to the institution employees through the Chairman and CEO who passes it to his juniors. The Senior Vice Chairman in charge of finance ensures the implementation of these decisions. Moreover, he has a direct link with the CEO, with whom he di scusses various institutional issues. It is evident that the departmental heads convey medical decisions to the personnel in their respective departments. Most importantly, employees act upon these decisions in accordance to the instructions provided. Employees in HCA departments include medical professionals who formulate laws and policies enacted in the corporation. In addition, there are also subordinate staffs such as financial clerks, receptionists, and cleaners who ensure the corporation performs its duties adequately[4]. Thus, any violations result into severe punishment of the institution in accordance to the set laws. Another law governing the institution involves its shares whereby, the corporation prohibits the issuing of more than one hundred and twenty five million shares of common stock at $.01 each. In addition, the board acting on a majority vote may alter the organizations by laws. Most importantly, HCA has adhered to all these policies and laws; thus, it performs its functions efficiently[6]. The institution is successful in meeting its goals as it has managed to deliver exceptional and reasonably priced services to clients. Thus, patients have so far been contented with the healthcare services that HCA offers. Moreover, caregivers and all other staff enjoy the appropriate working conditions at the institution. Hence, they have committed themselv es to serving the clients efficiently. The institution has also succeeded as it has won various awards such as fortune award and national patient safety foundation. These awards clearly portray the extent to which the institutions excellent work is evident in the provision of healthcare services. Additionally, it is successful because the health facilities it operates have registered large number of clients recently[8]. One of the effects of HCA’s core practices is that it has enabled the average American and English citizens to access medical care. This is through the achievement of its goals. The institution adapt to challenges promptly as it has put in place recovery and alternative programs, which help in overcoming such situations. It is evident that the institution is currently advancing its backup programs to ensure they are effective when need arises. Furthermore, HCA overcomes challenges in treatment procedures brought about by newly emerging diseases. This is through regular training of their medical staff on the trends of newly emerging diseases. As a result, they attain the skills to counter these diseases. Moreover, management challenges are subject to consultation with administration experts who adv ises HCA board on what measures to take (HCA). If I were the leader, I would introduce annual employee training programs. Here, they would undergo training on additional services provided by the institution. This will facilitate efficient services to the clients’ even with the absence of concerned employees. As one, can easily stand-in for a colleague. Additionally, I would start a community outreach program in all HCA hospitals in a bid to reduce the number of outpatients flocking the hospitals. In these programs, the community will undergo training on health issues. Furthermore, those who are unwell will receive treatment from mobile doctors. Thus, only severe cases receive additional treatment at the health facilities. The other step I would take as the leader of HCA is to collaborate with other hospitals on services that HCA facilities do not offer. This will reduce the moving of patients from one hospital to another. Another step I will take, as the leader of the institu tion is to ensure the unions address my employees’ needs. North Korea essays

North Korea essays The United States has been presented a dilemma towards its foreign policy with the Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea (North Korea). North Koreas alleged launch of a new Taepo-Dong I missile on August 31, 1998 has heightened American worries and escalated an already tense situation with North Korea. The United States response towards this new missile, which could possibly be able to reach the edges of both Alaska and Hawaii , will be a factor in its decision on whether or not to continue to finance support towards North Korea. New sanctions could mean the collapse of a weak North Korean economy. Already on the brink of economic and political collapse, the loss of U.S. and KEDO aid could push them over the edge and into political ruin. One major factor involved in the foreign policy decision is the collapse of North Korea. It could mean one of three things: Implosion (collapse of the state), explosion (war with South Korea) or absorption (reform and reunification). In May 1997, acti ng Director of Central Intelligence, George Tenet, stated, One of the things that worries us most is an implosion internally. The result of an implosion, the collapse of the state, would be hundreds of thousands of refugees fleeing to China and South Korea. China has already begun stepping up troops at the North Korean border to halt the flow of refugees should this happen. South Korea would possibly use force to deter refugees to the south. Another factor here is the humanitarian influences. Massive floods, droughts and typhoons since 1995 have forced North Korea to accept international food aid. Widespread famine has reportedly killed hundreds of thousands of people. This acceptance is contrary to the North Korean governments policy of juche or self-reliance . It is feared that the government of North Korea is diverting scarce food sources from the civilian sector to its military, even at a time of humanitarian cr...

Option 1 Amadeus Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words

Option 1 Amadeus - Essay Example In his confession, Salieri describes how his professional jealousy led him to force Mozart to write his own requiem mass, which Salieri intended to steal from him and present to the world as own musical work (Amadeus, 1984/2002). Salieri also describes how the fateful turn of events lead Mozart to die, his requiem mass unfinished, along with the murderous plot of Salieri for Mozart also imcomplete (Amadeus, 1984/2002). This writer chose this film for analysis, because the music of this film is inextricably connected with the central plot and its unfolding. This kind of a film on a musical genius could not have been possibly made without incorporating his musical works into the film. Every crucial dramatic moment in the film is linked to what these two musicians were doing in the field of music. Hence this film is a rare instance where the plot and music tracks merge inseparably into each other. It is music that generates the theme of this film, leads it to its climax and gives it a sense of purpose. The film opens with the Symphony no.25 in G Minor, K.183 composed by Mozart, as the opening credits are displayed. The calling of the name, ‘Mozart’, in the opening sequence has a timing that fits rhythmically into the accompanying musical bit (Amadeus, 1984/2002). The composer, Salieri is seen trying to commit suicide and being taken to the hospital when the symphony plays on, but not continuously- there are dramatic breaks that let the dramatic events to unfold. And after this symphony stops, there is the noises of the crowd, which reminds one of the cheering crowds inside a musical theatre after a concert. But then the visuals show that it was the noises inside a mental asylum. Here, it can be seen that the music suggests what is going to happen, prepares for the forthcoming shock, mourns the tragic events, but yet withdraws at the crucial moment as if it is lea st bothered.
